CCDTAM (New Caledonia Development and Knowledge Transfer for Marine Fishfarming) is vital in longterm development of a marine fishfarming industry, raising local breeds. The centre's main operations are:
- Developing breeding protocols for local fish breeds (using its test site for high quality juvenile production and marketable production) ;
- Developing diversification within the aquaculture sector (algae, molluscs, crustaceans) ;
- Transferring test results to the private sector ;
- Sharing experiances and developing exchanges loclaly and internationally.
CCDTAM teams operate its fishfarming facilities in Kone (a hatchery, financed by the North Province) and in Touho (pilot farm).
